The 93rd (Sutherland Highlanders) Regiment of Foot earned lasting fame as the "Thin Red Line" at the Battle of Balaclava on October 25, 1854, during the Crimean War. Led by Sir Colin Campbell, roughly 500-600 men in a two-deep line held off a Russian cavalry charge, securing the British supply base.
