Russian line infantry in the Crimean War (1853–1856) were peasant soldiers known for their endurance and reliance on bayonet charges. Frequently dressed in drab, long greatcoats with distinctive Pickelhaube helmets, they often struggled against superior British and French rifles due to outdated weapons, poor training, and rigid, slow-moving column tactics.
