In the 17th century the most common form of cavalry were known as harquebusiers, named after the harquebus (carbine). The "standard" harquebusier with lobster pot helmet, buff coat, breast and back armour is most closely associated with the Parliamentary army and, in particular, Oliver Cromwell and the New Model Army. However, harquebusiers fought on both sides of the English Civil War and were often differentiated by the colour of the sash that was frequently worn.

    A Perfect Minifigure

The print design is excellent – surprisingly vibrant. Including a lobster-tailed pot helmet (designed by Loongbrick) gives it a proper English Civil War look, and is well worth the small extra cost attached to the minifig. It would have been nice to get a slightly more detailed face print, considering UB’s great designs on other 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Civil War minifigure faces, but it’s a small complaint. It’s still early in 2026, but this may end up being my favourite UB of the year!
