A WW2 US Army infantry squad consisted of 12 men. Capable of significant individual firepower from the M1 Garand, BAR teams would provide additional support where necessary. The US Army was highly mechanised and was capable of rapid deployment to wherever troops were needed.
The BAR gunner (Browning Automatic Rifleman) provided critical, mobile automatic firepower to the infantry squad. Using the 20-pound M1918A2 BAR, they fired .30-06 caliber rounds to suppress enemy positions.
