A WW2 US Army infantry squad consisted of 12 men. Capable of significant individual firepower from the M1 Garand, BAR teams would provide additional support where necessary. The US Army was highly mechanised and was capable of rapid deployment to wherever troops were needed.
A platoon leader was typically a 1st or 2nd Lieutenant commanding roughly 30–40 men (three rifle squads and a HQ element). They led assaults, maneuvered squads, and coordinated with weapons teams under company commanders.
